Dr. Jayant Acharya is tenured Professor and Chair of Neurology and Executive Director of the Neuroscience Institute at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He is board-certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, epilepsy, and sleep medicine.
Dr. Acharya completed his medical training in India and the U.S., followed by an epilepsy fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Over the years, he has held prominent academic faculty positions across several U.S. medical institutions. His scholarly work and clinical expertise have earned him numerous accolades for excellence in research, teaching, and academic leadership. He serves on several high-impact committees and boards at the regional, national, and international levels, including as Chair of the ANA Professional Development Workshop Subcommittee, Councilor for the AUPN, and Associate Editor for Clinical Neurophysiology Practice.
An internationally sought-after speaker and thought leader, Dr. Acharya has delivered invited lectures and participated as a panelist at a wide range of scientific conferences and symposia worldwide. He has collaborated with global experts to shape clinical guidelines and awareness strategies regarding various aspects of epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.
